LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 334-300 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.38 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing Phrygian helmet decorated with a centauress on the bowl; behind neck guard, monogram. Rev. ΥEΛHTΩN Lion standing left, devouring animal part; above, A; below, monogram. HN Italy 1296. Williams 347 (O179/R252). SNG ANS 1325. Nicely toned. Numerous minor marks and light scratches and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, about very fine.
